Our Product

Is your beef grass-fed?

We raise all of our cattle on the lush open fields of our ranch, our cattle NEVER see the inside of a feedlot. We sell both grass and grain-finished beef. Both spend their entire lives on pasture or in timber ground where they eat all of the forage and heritage grasses they like.

Our grain-finished cattle then eat locally sourced grain for 60 -70 days, but only as a supplement to their primary diet of grass and forage.

Grass-fed beef is naturally lower in cholesterol and richer in omega-3 fatty acids, although if you are not used to grass-fed beef it is leaner than grain-fed beef and may taste slightly gamey.

Why does your beef taste so good?

We raise Red Angus cattle. Angus beef is the gold standard for high quality, extra juicy, incredibly tender beef. We then add 2 weeks of dry-aging to enhance the taste and juiciness even more. Added all together, you get the best beef you’ll find anywhere!

What’s the deal with your ground beef?

Our craft ground beef is around 80/20 lean and our grass fed beef is closer to 90/10 lean. All of our ground beef is 100% premium beef, with no organs or fillers.

How is the meat packaged?

We package our beef in food-grade cellophane and butcher paper. This combination keeps meat fresher for longer. Our hamburger comes in packages of about 1.5 lbs, roasts come in packages of one, and steaks come in packages of two. All steaks are cut 1¼” thick, the standard thickness for premium steaks.

I’ve never cooked this cut before, do you have any advice?

Yes! If you are interested we have a collection of our favorite ways to use our beef. Or, just send us a message on our homepage and we’ll send it to you! We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

How do I thaw my meat?

We prefer to thaw meat in the fridge overnight, but there’s almost no wrong way to thaw beef. Except for the defrost function on your microwave. That is DEFINITELY the wrong way!

Our Practices

Are you organic?

We believe in holistic and regenerative agriculture that is good for the environment and our community. Unfortunately, organic operations are not always so. We use all-natural practices and strive to maintain a “closed-loop” operation. We never use herbicides, pesticides, hormones, or antibiotics. We are proud of our operation, and are happy to explain our practices to our customers! If you have questions, send us a message on our homepage!

Do you ever use antibiotics?

We love our animals at Pole Creek Ranch. That means when one is sick and in danger from a treatable disease, we will ALWAYS do what is best for them. But any animals treated with antibiotics are “red-tagged” and never used in our beef program. We sell these animals locally to keep them out of feedlots and the industrial beef system. Everything we do here at Pole Creek Ranch keeps the health and well-being of our animals top of mind.

How are your animals harvested?

We’ve invested in the best and most humane facilities for the well-being of our animals. We expect the same of those we do business with. Our local butcher holds the same philosophy and is as committed to humanely processing our animals as we are to humanely raising them.
